Spice & Wolf Anniversary Collector's Edition (Not Numbered)
Ive been reading accounts of copies being delivered either damaged or with some small defect. Im glad that mine just came intact. The book itself is beautiful.
That said I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied with how this release was handled. The day preorders were available I booked a numbered copy thru Amazon. A day later Rightstuf made pre-orders thru their site available and $40 cheaper than on Amazon. Never having had a bad experience thru them, and knowing how great they package their items, I canceled my order thru Amazon placed an order thru them.
A few days later I received an email stating that they would not be able to fulfill all the orders for a number copy and there was an extremely high demand, and Yenpress did not allocate enough copies for them. Unfortunately this mean that I missed out on a numbered copy and had to wait a whole month till the 2nd printing was made available.
There were only going to be 2k numbered copies available. I Rightstuf isnt to blame, but given how limited it was going to be, youd figure they would have had cutoff.
If I am to take anything out of this experience, is that I should just stick to whomever makes pre-orders available first, and not let customer loyalty influence my decision. That or secure more than one order with different retailers.
