Indonesia is atypical though.
The people of Indonesia have constitutional religious freedom, they are relatively highly educated (science is the strongest enemy of religion and always wins), their standard of living is good so they are generally not angry at life, they live on islands so the muslim doomsday preachers have no way of conjuring up an external enemy to focus on and also important - they haven't been muslims for very long. It's a relatively new thing... and if I remember correctly from my high school classes it happened kinda like a protest against the Dutch colonial power.
But that doesn't mean that the Islamic leaders aren't dreaming of killing that pesky constitution the first chance they get. Trust me - if Indonesia should experience a recession for some reason which causes unrest in the population, it won't be a democracy for long.
The problem with Islam is that it is more pervasive than most other religions, being a traditional warriors and tribal belief system. It's a complete package, including laws and regulatory mechanisms... not just a personal belief system or a philosophy. That puts it in competition with democracy.
Since democracy is a pure government system without a spiritual component, Islam actually offers a better deal for those who seek spirituality. It's like buying the complete set.
The reality is, that Trump doesn't care, but pretends to do so in order to get the right wing votes. He talks big - sure. But as president he will be very unlikely to start anything in the Middle East because war is expensive. The muslims should definitely support Trump if they wanna live.
However Hillary is going to keep the drones flying. Obama has killed a lot of muslim civilians with drone strikes during his tenure - if there is an Isis leader in a house, he will take out the entire hood with a Hellfire. Expect Hillary to be even worse in this regard.
