Well, its been 3 weeks since I watched any Toku, a combination of college being much more time intensive than I expected (and I expected it to be a lot), and being burned out on anime, and finishing Ghost burned me out on Toku. I forced myself to finally sit down and start Ex-Aid today, and I'm probably going to force myself to get caught up on everything else, probably doing posts only about Ex-Aid until I'm caught up on Zyuohger and Orb.
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Episode 1:
It might just be because I just finished Ghost, but this was really fun. I originally wasn't too big of fan of the Level 1 suit, but once I realized it was literally just Cast-Off but dumber, I didn't hate it as much. I just hope it goes a bit faster than Kabuto in making them not appear in fights too much. But I really like Ex-Aid's suit. I thought it was too busy at first, but after months of seeing it in leaks, it grew on me. I really liked Asuna at first, but once she jumped in the game, I started getting pretty annoyed by her. And the monster did look like shit, but since I know what they can do when they try with CG (still looks bad, but nowhere near that bad), I can't help but think it is somewhat intentional. Doesn't make it not bad though. And after seeing another potential 4 Riders, I think we might be getting another Ensemble Rider, which makes me very excited. I just hope we don't get a lot of kids.
I don't like seeing you guys shit on it for being like Ghost when no one else got more than 25 episodes in. I remember the first episode of Ghost, it tried to overwhelm with wacky characters (4, 5 if we want to count Akari), and gave us an MC that had about 0 emotion, and we also got incompetent editing, going from a shot of Takeru biking through a city to an empty beach in seconds. So far we know of 2 wacky characters, have an MC that showed a wide range of emotion (and has more acting skill than Takeru after 50 episodes), and didn't have cuts that made no sense. Not saying that we shouldn't rip on Ex-Aid where it is bad, but that comparisons to Ghost are barely even valid at this point.
Also, the belt is voiced by Hironobu Kageyama, lead singer of JAM Project, who did literally every song that wasn't the weird chanting in Garo. Also did Sentai and Kamen Rider songs in the 90s, AND made the original Dragon Ball Z OP.
