I'm honestly not a fan of either Clinton or Trump, but I did vote rather selfishly this time.
I really want the Affordable Care Act repealed, or in the least restructured greatly. My brother has been severely disabled for almost 2 years now. His entire right side of his body is currently and virtually nonfunctional. He cannot walk or bath himself; he's 28 and it's almost like taking care of a newborn.
He's been on several healthcare plans under the Affordable Care Act, and they have all screwed him over in some way, aside from the amount he has to pay monthly for it. He needs to visit doctors in Houston for his medical needs, he needs physical therapy, he gets sick quite often, and he needs to have surgery. One plan approved of the Houston doctors, but not the specific hospitals those doctors work in, allowed helped payed for physical therapy, but did not approve of our family doctors. The hospital even told us his insurance was approved, when in actuality it wasn't, and they gave us a go-ahead for my brother to have surgery, which if we went through with, we would have had to pay over $30,000 out of pocket. Another plan did the complete opposite. Heck, it took us well over a year for him to get on Medicare because Social Security screwed him over royally without even telling us. And even with the Medicare plan we have for him now, they still don't approve of the only hospital he can get his surgery in.
For almost 2 years we've seen how horrible government assistance can be, and I'm honestly sick and tired of seeing my brother suffer because he cannot get the help he needs. While I'm not a huge fan of Trump's character, I hope to God there is someone competent enough that will guide him in a proper direction.
