I am aiming at a project where I will be compiling good movies, and good anime series into a single 'pack' that is basically meant to be a recommendation list for people who want to experience anime as a whole without having to think about what to watch. If I am going to work on this type of thing I want some thoughts first so I will post the detailed plan below.
Rules: Anime must either be a fairly fresh series (ended no more than 5 years ago), or a movie.
The show cannot be too long. If any individual season of a show has more than 30 episodes, it won't go in the pack.
If a movie or newer season depends on a series, the entire series is included regardless of age.
A show must qualify by my own standards for what I believe is a something an average thoughtful person in their 20s would enjoy (this is where you get mad).
Anime Pack 1
Kimi na wa
Koe no Katachi
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Howl's Moving Castle
Kizumonogatari, 1, 2, 3
Mushishi Zoku Shou: Suzu no Shizuki
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Bake, Nise, Neko, S2, Hana, Tsuki, Owarimonogatari
Fate Zero, Fate/stay night UBW
Assassination Classroom, 1, 2
Ping Pong The Animation
Natsume Yuujinchou 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Itsuka no Hi ni
Mushishi, Zoku Shou, Odoro no Michi, Hihamukage
Haikyuu!!, 1, 2, 3
Bakuman, 1, 2, 3
Your thoughts would be appreciated. First, I guess I should add as a way of giving more context, anime that I considered but that didn't make it into this first pack for one reason or another:
One Punch Man
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (Cliche in a bad way, self indulgent melodrama)
Boku dake ga Inai Machi (Superficial use of psychology, self indulgent melodrama, plot conveniences and time travel)
I'll add one last thing: I am thinking of a total of 6 packs. All the packs would be maintained as new anime comes out and old anime goes past the time limit of 5 years.
